My dad...after 14 years!

So my dad calls me a week ago, after no communication for 14 years. I was actually happy to hear from him & like I have said in the past (yet pretty recently), if my father showed up at my door today, I would still welcome him with open arms. We chatted a bit, found out that he had no idea that he has twin, 8 year old grandsons & he seemed a bit excited about that, talking about taking them fishing, etc. Well, we will see…he's obviously always been a flaky one. So, he tells me that he's going to sell a bunch of his crap & move up this way in April, after living in Mexico for over 20 years. Wow! That would be neat, but yet I am not sure how things will play out. I only saw my father a half dozen times when I was 6ish, then ran into him at a 4th of July party when I was 13, & then met him again (& my 13 year old brother) & went camping & to the ocean when I was 17 (1994). So if this really happens, it will really change my life. I have never truly had a father figure in my life except for my step father for 5 years & then my grandfather. I'm almost scared, yet excited, especially for my kids to see my father. We will see if this really happens this spring...

The life guide...

So Costco isn't just a place to shop, it's a complete lifestyle. I found this Costco 2008 Household Almanac online, and crap! this thing is like the bible for living in today's time (great for the elder). It's got everything from how to choose the best electronics, what you can do with them, organizing, cleaning, safety and remodeling in your home, to your health. Very interesting stuff & I am SURE you will find something of interest...

Media Fashion Police

I am soooo sick of the media. I log into Yahoo today & find the front headline about Miley Cyrus's crappy choice of a hot pink beret. Holy crap! What do we care?! And who says that a hot pink beret is a "fashion mishap"? If the media wasn't so freakin' concerned with what stars are wearing, maybe our children wouldn't grow up so worried about what others think and having low self esteem! I grew up being bullied and still have a little bit of issues with what people think. I have definitely grown up, but deep down inside if I see someone look at me weird, I get a little self conscience. I try so hard to teach my kids to be outgoing & friendly to everyone no matter what they look like or how much money they have. The media is the culprit and it's time to shut them out!

2nd Graders Learning Cursive?!

So, I was going through some papers that one of my boys brought home the last day of school, and one was writing some cursive. I asked him if they were teaching cursive already & he stated they were introducing it right before school ended for the summer. Teaching cursive in 2nd grade!? They can barely write normal! Ha. I may be wrong, but I do not remember learning cursive till at least 4th grade when I was in school. I know times are changing, but it sure seems like the kids these days are learning 2 years ahead of what we were being taught. Wow! What grade are your children learning cursive? And do you remember what grade you were writing cursive? I am curious to hear.

Big Brother 10's Libra

I forgot to mention in my earlier post about Big Brother 10 starting this Sunday that 31 year old, Libra has 4 month old twins. Yes, 4 MONTHS old! Being a mother of twins myself, I had a hard enough time leaving my boys for the first time for 2 weeks this year to take a trip to Maui and they're 8 years old! I do not understand what she is thinking?! To me, leaving your 4 month old twins (or any 4 month old child) to be on a reality show for possibly 3 months, is pure neglect! She better take home the prize to make it worth her time away from her children. I'd rather see her leave the 1st eviction!

Big Brother 10!!!

So Big Brother 10 is starting this Sunday @ 8pm. I am excited since this season seems to go back to the basics of the original Big Brother with the HouseGuests being all strangers. It's a HUGE mix of ages this year too. Ranging from 22 to 75! The majority are in their 20's & 30's. I honestly think the 75 year old man, Jerry, and 53 year old, Renny, have a major disadvantage. I don't think they will last very long, sadly. I am wondering what twists they will have this season too. I thought the last season's twist "Till Death Do Us Part", paring the HG's as couples, really stunk. Hopefully this season will be fun. And I also hope the viewers get more control over who stays & who goes. Oh, and the house is totally rad (yes, that's an 80's saying). Every room has a theme, from an 80's style bedroom, 50's diner kitchen, to a Penthouse style HOH bedroom. It already looks like an exciting summer at Big Brother 10! Tune in Tuesdays @ 9pm, Wednesdays @ 8pm, and Sundays @ 8pm. And I will be sharing my thoughts here too. :) (Uh oh!-haha)
